Two men were taken to the hospital, one with stab wounds, after a fight Saturday night on State Street in downtown Santa Barbara, according to Santa Barbara police.

Sgt. Ethan Ragsdale said officers responded shortly before 10 p.m. to the incident in the 500 block of State Street, between Cota and Haley streets.

“Officers determined there was a physical altercation between several individuals that started inside a local business and spilled out onto the street,” he said.

Two men were taken by American Medical Response ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries, Ragsdale said.

One suffered two stab wounds to the abdomen, while the other had facial injuries, he added.

Their identities and details on their conditions were not available.

“The initial investigation revealed that the subjects involved in the fight were not known to each other, and one from out of town,” Ragsdale said.

“This incident was not gang related.”

As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made, Ragsdale said, and the investigation was continuing.
