Two women were injured, one critically, when they were struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening while walking in Isla Vista, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 6:45 p.m. to the collision on Camino Pescadero at Sabado Tarde Road, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.

One woman suffered major injuries, while the other sustained minor injuries, Safechuck said.

Both were taken by ground ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Their names and details on their conditions were not available.

The female driver and sole occupant of the vehicle that struck the pair was not hurt, Safechuck said.

Her name was not released Tuesday night.

The collision was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
