Two people were injured, one critically, in a head-on vehicle collision Thursday morning on Highway 1 near Las Cruces and the Highway 101 interchange.
The California Highway Patrol, Santa Barbara County Fire Department and other agencies responded to the scene of a three-vehicle crash at about 5:40 a.m.
The collision was about a mile west of Highway 101.

One of the people involved in the collision suffered major injuries, and a Calstar helicopter landed on the highway to pick up the patient and fly them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, according to the Fire Department.
Their name and details on their condition were not available.
The CHP shut down Highway 1 in both directions temporarily for the helicopter landing.
The highway was reopened at 8 a.m., according to Caltrans.
