Two people were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital late Tuesday night after a motorcycle and a car collided near the Santa Barbara waterfront.

Their names and information about their conditions were not immediately available.

Emergency crews first responded to the 200 block of West Cabrillo Boulevard at 9:18 p.m. for a report of a collision involving the motorcyclist and a black Honda.

That area was closed between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 1:30 a.m. Wednesday while the Santa Barbara Police Department investigated.

Santa Barbara Police spokesperson Lt. Antonio Montojo said Wednesday that it was not yet known whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.

Montojo said the investigation was ongoing.
