Two minor injuries were reported early Friday in a fire at a hotel near the Santa Barbara Waterfront, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched at 1:45 a.m. to the Casa Del Mar Inn at 18 Bath St., fire Battalion Chief Robert Mercado told Noozhawk.
Upon arrival, they found light smoke around the building, and traced the fire to an enclosed storage area underneath a staircase, Mercado said.
Crews were able to knock down the flames within five minutes, he said.
A guest at the hotel who attempted to douse the fire with an extinguisher sustained minor burns, Mercado said, and another guest had minor smoke inhalation. Neither was taken to the hospital.
Some guests were relocated to another hotel because the power to the complex was shut down after the fire, Mercado said.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
