One person was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with critical injuries Monday afternoon after a vehicle crash in Solvang.

Three people were hurt in the two-vehicle collision at Highway 246/Mission Drive and Alamo Pintado Road, which was reported at 12:42 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters had to extricate the adult female driver from the wreckage of one vehicle, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said. She had major injuries.

An American Medical Response ambulance transported her to the Santa Ynez Airport, where it met the county’s Copter 3, which airlifted her to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Two more people, a man and a woman, were injured in the other vehicle.

They reportedly had moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Safechuck said.

No other details were available.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
