A quartet of local baseball and softball standouts was commemorated for their standout seasons on Wednesday in the form of All CIF-SS team honors.
On the baseball diamond, Dos Pueblos freshman Matti Di Maggio and Carpinteria High sophomore Jonah Hernandez led their teams to strong playoff runs.
Meanwhile, Dos Pueblos senior Anastasia Brunner and San Marcos junior Lucy Dessert pulled in All CIF-SS softball honors for their solid ends to the season.
Di Maggio, who mainly played right field for the Chargers, was named to the All CIF-SS Division 3 team after hitting .500 with 42 hits, 11 homers and 37 runs scored in 31 games played. He is one of the highest-ranked members of the Class of 2029 in the nation.
Hernandez was a two-way threat for the Warriors, contributing on the mound and at the plate while playing third base on his way to All CIF-SS Division 7 honors.
As for the softball honorees, Brunner was a lockdown center fielder for the Chargers while also hitting .588 with 60 hits, 10 home runs and 46 runs scored in 28 games. She was named to the All CIF-SS Division 3 team as a result.
Dessert rounded out the local All CIF-SS players after a stellar season in the circle. The right-hander earned a spot on the Division 5 squad by pitching to a 3.44 ERA and striking out 123 in 144 â…” innings. She also hit .337 at the plate.
