Serious injuries were reported Friday night in a multi-vehicle collision on Hollister Avenue near Santa Barbara.

Emergency personnel were dispatched shortly before 8 p.m. to the crash on Hollister just west of Auhay Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Three vehicles — two SUVs and a sedan — were involved in what the CHP said appeared to be a head-on collision.

Extrication was required to free the victims from one of the vehicles, according to Capt. Scott Safechuck of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Three AMR ambulances were dispatched to the scene to attend to four people who were injured, Safechuck said.

One suffered moderate injuries and three others sustained minor injuries, he added.

They were taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment. Their names and details on their conditions were not available.

The westbound lanes were blocked for a time after the crash, with traffic being diverted onto Auhay, the CHP said.
