One person reportedly was moderately injured and others received minor injuries in a Friday afternoon crash involving multiple vehicles on Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley.

At approximately 2:13 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters along with California Highway Patrol officers and Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 1300 block of Highway 154.

Four people were injured in the crash reportedly involving four vehicles that blocked lanes on the highway for a time, Santa Barbara County Fire spokesperson Karen Cruz-Orduña said.

Callers told CHP dispatchers that the driver of a red Volkswagen allegedly swerved into the opposing lanes where a white sedan struck it, according to emergency dispatch reports.

American Medical Response ambulances transported four patients, most with minor injuries, to the hospital, Cruz-Orduña said.

The crash and investigation led to a brief closure of Highway 154 lanes in the area, but law enforcement officers said the roadway was clear by 3 p.m.

CHP officers from the Buellton area were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
