Lompoc is getting ready to celebrate the 73rd Annual Lompoc Valley Flower Festival, June 25-28 at Ryon Memorial Park.

The annual home-town tradition highlights the valley’s agricultural heritage with colorful floats, marching bands, equestrian units, and drill teams.

All floats, which are designed and built by local organizations, feature flowers and/or natural materials.

Carnival attractions, arts and crafts vendors, food booths, and live entertainment are also part of the festivities.

This year’s red, white, and blue- themed event is titled America in Bloom: 250 Years. It is put together by the nonprofit Lompoc Valley Festival Association.

With its origin dating back to the 1950s, the Flower Festival acknowledges the area’s agricultural heritage while bringing community members together, organizers said.
