Montessori Center School (MCS) has implemented a new brand-identity system intended to reflect the school’s vision, mission, and core values.

The visual system, including logos, colors, slogan and typography, was refreshed in preparation for the September launch of the school’s five-year strategic plan. The updated logo and visual identity system were developed by local agency, Type A Creative, with input from the MCS community.

“Our updated branding allows us to convey our new direction in a fresh and modern way, while still honoring our 54 years of history,” said Melanie Jacobs, head of school.

The current logo and colors take cues from the school’s initial design and are a modern interpretation of the same concepts. In alignment with the original logo, the refreshed options were designed to represent the three equal parts of learning: the body of knowledge, those who teach and those who learn.

Montessori Center School’s slogan “Educate. Engage. Empower” draws inspiration from the school’s institutional identity, which was unveiled in May. MCS’s signature colors will continue to be green while introducing two shades of blue.

“Our colors and slogan were carefully chosen as they are a representation of our school values,” Jacobs said. “Our slogan captures our mission to develop and foster independent, compassionate life-long learners who will transform our world.

“Blue and green reflect our love of earth and nature. Blue is linked to intellect, peace and truth, while green symbolizes growth, harmony and safety. The colors blue and green are used in Montessori mathematics, geometry, geography, and language materials, reflecting our continued focus on academic excellence, while cultivating our global citizenship and cultural competency.”

In the upcoming months, MCS will be rolling out the updated branding for key marketing and communications materials. For more about Montessori Center School’s strategic planning process, visit mcssb.org/strategicplan.
