Now, Santa Barbara is even more special.

It’s M. Special.

The popular brewery held a soft opening Thursday night that will last through Saturday, and it plans to open fully to the public next week.

M. Special has enjoyed great success for the past five years in Goleta, at 6860 Cortona Drive, Suite C. The new location is at the former site of Tonic, 634 State St.

“Santa Barbara is where our home is, and we wanted to be here,” owner Brendan Malloy said. “We found this place and really gravitated toward it because of the size. It’s a true beer garden, beer hall-type of vibe.”

The company had been looking for a place to expand for the past few years. The new spot features a large outdoor dining area on State Street as well as an ample outdoor back area.

M. Special has proved popular with Santa Barbara’s industrial and tech companies for happy hour and dinner with the help of food trucks. The new State Street restaurant will serve food from the kitchen and offer wines from local wineries.

“We no longer have the food trucks like in Goleta. We have a full kitchen,” Malloy said. “We’re really excited. It’s a great spot.”

The new menu offers items such as a Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Pulled Pork Sliders, Dirty Tacos, Loaded Fries and the $11 M. Burger.

New Real Estate Group

The Knight Real Estate Group, a boutique real estate team serving Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria, has officially launched.

The team includes founder Kelly Knight, a veteran real estate broker with a background in law, and Michelle Eskandari, a Realtor with more than a decade of experience working with luxury buyers and sellers.

Knight Real Estate Group is part of Village Properties Realtors, with offices in Montecito and Santa Barbara.

Knight has worked as a real estate broker for more than 15 years. Eskandari began her career as an “invaluable member of an ultra-luxury real estate team contributing to sales in excess of $400 million over four years,” according to a news release.

The two bring more than 40 years of combined real estate, business and legal experience to their clients, and have managed or participated in more than 300 real estate transactions.

“Our team approach allows us to bring exceptional expertise and added value to complex real estate transactions,” Knight said in a statement. “Through the Knight Real Estate Group, Michelle and I are delighted to be able to pool our individual talents, specializations, perspectives and experiences for the benefit of our clients.”
