Chick-fil-A is back in business after a summer closure to widen the driveway at the State Street location in Santa Barbara.
“We are grateful to the city and our contractors who together made this all possible and thankful to be serving our community again,” said Travis Collins, Chick-fil-A franchisee owner.
Chick-fil-A at 3707 State St. closed May 20 to reconfigure its drive lanes from two to three.
Collins said the three-lane drive-thru configuration has already allowed for greater efficiency.
The new lot configuration provides availability for parking around the restaurant, as well as a full lane to pass through to exit the property.
“We have been working diligently to train our new team members so we can continue to efficiently and quickly serve our great community of Santa Barbara,” Collins said.
Chick-fil-A agreed to reconfigure its entrance to reduce the number of times during the day that vehicles back up into the street. The city had threatened to revoke the restaurant’s drive-thru privileges if it didn’t stop the backing up into the streets.
On Thursday, Chick-fil-A employees were working in the lanes to keep traffic moving along swiftly.
Chick-fil-A is working through the Santa Barbara County planning process to open a restaurant at 4765 Calle Real, the former site of IHOP.
