Circus Vargas’ 2024 production Jubilé! An Epic World Celebration! will be held June 17-27 at Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, and June 21-July 8 at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.
Jubilé! An Epic World Celebration! features a cast of international aerialists, acrobats, and comedians, directed by Ringmaster Johnathan Lee Iverson, a classically trained opera singer/actor/emcee.
Iverson will guide the audience through an experience of different cultures and nationalities, featuring performers from 15 different countries who come together through acrobatic and aerial artistry.
An accomplished showman, Iverson holds the distinction of being the youngest and first Black American Ringmaster of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey. He served in that role until that circus closed in 2017, making him the last ringmaster in the 146-year history of The Greatest Show On Earth.
Iverson has performed on stages worldwide. As a member of the Boys Choir of Harlem, he shared the spotlight with legendary singers Lena Horne, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Luciano Pavarotti, Roberta Flack, Placido Domingo, and Tony Bennett.
Iverson was among Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People, but he said he is most proud of being a question on the quiz show “JEOPARDY” — twice.
