The 31st Annual Teen Arts Mentorship Exhibit will be on display Nov. 15-Jan. 25 with an opening reception, 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at the Arts Fund Community Gallery, 120 S. Hope Ave., #F119, Santa Barbara.
The Arts Fund exhibit highlights the creativity of students in its Teen Arts Mentorship Program, which offers young people an opportunity to work with industry professionals and master artists in a studio environment.
This fall, students from local high schools received free mentorship from Santa Barbara working artists during two programs: Creative Expression with Typewriters (mentor Simon Kiefer), and Expressive Figure Drawing (mentors Austin Raymond and Chiara Corbo).
Students also gained hands-on experience in the full gallery process, from selecting pieces to determining pricing. They learned about the logistics of displaying and marketing their work, as well as aspects of sales, preparing them with practical skills for navigating the art world as emerging artists.
Community members are also invited to listen to spoken word by young poets during the opening reception.
