The Santa Maria Public Library offers a variety of monthly book clubs for adults. Each meeting is held in the library’s Learning Loft, 421 S. McClelland St.

• Join the Junk Journal Book Club for its first meeting to create your own journal and pick the club’s first novel, 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan 18.
• For fans of haunting horror, Novel Nightmares Book Club will discuss “The Pet Sematary” by Stephen King, 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21.
• For those wanting to read and discuss literature focused on LGBTQIA+ authors, characters and themes, Rainbow Reads Book Club will talk about “Under the Whispering Door” by TJ Klune, 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24.
