On the surface, talking about time sensitivity seems an appropriate topic for this fast-paced world in which we live.
The past few decades have immersed us in time management strategies. All facets of life have us looking for ways to accomplish more in our waking hours, whether we’re talking about our allocated work time, family time or just making the best use of our personal time.
One can easily make a case that time is one of our most precious commodities.
These essays interestingly deal with making the best use of the limited time we have remaining.
You younger folks reading this probably feel you have plenty of time left in your bucket. Yet many in your generation may already be in the fourth quarter of their allotted time in the game of life.
Only God knows the hand we’ve each been dealt!
Have you ever considered why we refer to Mother Nature and Father Time? Perhaps those terms help us come to grips with those two entities we certainly cannot harness nor control.
Thinking puny humankind can control climate and add even an hour to our time here on this planet is ludicrous. Only the Creator of All that exists knows what lies ahead.
Jesus speaks to us in Matthew 6 regarding our concerns for such things we cannot control. In verse 27, we read “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”
In the Book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 3, the wise King Solomon sheds some much needed light on the subject.
In verse 1 he starts with this salient observation: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.”
Then he continues by comparing such events as being born and dying, planting and uprooting, weeping and laughing, mourning and dancing, being silent and speaking, and ends with a time for war and a time for peace.
It appears that we human beings are the ones who must precariously deal with time sensitivity. God created time, but He is not bound by its obvious limits.
Some 3,000 years ago, King David in Psalm 31 beautifully proclaimed his trust in the Lord. He was certain his time was in God’s hands and prayed that he would be delivered from his enemies.
He loved the Lord with all his heart, with all his mind, with all his soul and with all his strength. In God’s perfect time David reigned as king over Israel for 40 years. Our time, too, is in His hands.
Time is elusive to all humankind.
The animals have no concern for time. They simply live out their short lives without concern.
We, on the other hand, are certainly aware of time and need to draw near to our Creator before we take our final breath. He beckons you to come to Him and He will give you rest!
Don’t you feel it’s about time to trust in the Lord?
