Two local Santa Barbara businesses, The Sando Truck and G.K.P. (Good Kitchen Products), are teaming up for a Father’s Day food pop-up that celebrates sustainability, flavor and community on Sunday, June 15.
The pop-up will feature a limited-edition, Japanese-inspired vegetarian sandwich: the Edamame Korokke Sando, paired with a sweet treat, Japanese churros (crispy, cinnamon-sugar bread crusts, pan no mimi).
Ten percent of all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Humane Society of Santa Barbara, in support of local animal welfare efforts.
“This collaboration is about more than food,” said Kazuyo (G.K.P.) and Nick Gillio (The Sando Truck). “It’s about shared values — sustainability, cultural heritage, and doing good through small, everyday choices.”
Founded by Gillio, a Santa Barbara local, The Sando Truck brings the Japanese katsu sando to the West Coast.
“With an emphasis on authenticity, sustainability, and high-quality ingredients, the truck specializes in crispy pork and chicken cutlets served on traditionally sourced shokupan bread,” Gillio said.
Founded by Kazuyo, G.K.P. is a woman-owned kitchen goods brand known for eco-friendly aprons, made in California.
G.K.P. blends practical design with a sustainable ethos, Kazuyo said.
Leading up to the Father’s Day event, the two brands will also host Instagram giveaways, offering community members a chance to win exclusive prizes.
