The Santa Maria Utilities Department is encouraging residents to “Go Green in the Fall” with its new Every Drop, Every Leaf Bundle offer.

A complimentary set of water-saving and yard-care items is available to city utilities customers throughout October while supplies last.

The autumn promotion serves as a reminder for homeowners to pull weeds and collect yard clippings; adjust irrigation timers and clocks for cooler weather; and inspect sprinklers and outdoor faucets for leaks.The Every Drop, Every Leaf Bundle includes:

• One 7-by-7-foot reusable landscape burlap, good for gathering leaves, yard clippings, branches and fallen fruit for composting or green bin disposal.
• Three high-efficiency MPR1000 Rotator sprinklers, including anti-leak sprinkler bodies, an adjustment tool, and installation instructions.

Upgrading to rotator sprinklers is a simple way to retrofit existing irrigation systems and reduce water waste, the city said.

Supplies are limited to one promotional package per household.
