The Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck law firm has moved into a downtown Santa Barbara office, returning to the same building as its local predecessor, Hatch & Parent.
The nationally recognized law firm merged with Hatch & Parent in 2007.
“A return to 1020 State St. is more than a move; it is a homecoming for us,” managing partner Amy Steinfeld said.
The firm specializes in water law and is heavily involved with projects such as the Solomon Hills, Giorgi, Richards Ranch and Shelby housing developments. It has been involved in the adjudication of groundwater rights for the Cuyama Valley Groundwater Basin.
It also works on solar and battery storage energy projects throughout the state.
Steinfeld said the firm’s downtown presence will help revitalize State Street by bringing attorneys downtown. The office features more than 17,000 square feet of space.
“We are so excited to be able to support local businesses down here and be a part of the conversation about the future of State Street,” Steinfeld said. “The state of the city is extremely important to us.”
Steinfeld just hit 20 years as an attorney at the firm. She joined in the summer of 2004.
“I have been so lucky to work on the issues so important to our community, including housing, water and energy reliability,” she said.
Steinfeld said the new office honors the firm’s roots. It has about 40 employees, and the building was originally constructed as a law firm, so it has large conference rooms, an open floor plan, art, and natural light for attorneys who work long hours.
“It’s a beautiful gathering space to meet with clients and others in the community,” Steinfeld said. “It is a really special place.”
The office was previously located at 1021 Anacapa St. in Santa Barbara.
The Grand on State Coming Soon
It’s music to everyone’s ears.
Jenna Berg and her musician husband, Brian Mann, are starting a new piano concept on State Street in Santa Barbara. They hope to open The Grand of State within three months.
Berg sent Noozhawk the following: “Introducing an exceptional new dining destination in the Theatre Arts District that seamlessly blends fine elegant Santa Barbara cuisine with the captivating charm of live jazz and acoustic music. We will offer a refined ambiance where guests can savor meticulously crafted dishes, complemented by an exquisite selection of wines. The atmosphere is elevated by the soulful sounds of live jazz and other musical performances, creating an unforgettable sensory experience.
“Positioned next to the iconic Granada Theatre, this venue will cater to music lovers, theatergoers, locals and visitors from around the world. We will be the first venue of its kind in the Theatre Arts District of Santa Barbara.”
Berg said it will be a one-of-a-kind gathering place for fine food and exquisite live music. The location is 1218 State St.
Mann is an acclaimed keyboardist, composer, arranger and accordionist, and has toured with Kenny Loggins.
Folded Hills to Close in Montecito
Folded Hills Winery is closing its Montecito Tasting Room.
“After much reflection, we have decided to close our Montecito Tasting Room in late November,” according to a message to members.
It plans to launch pop-ups and home delivery.
“Our outposts are intimate pop-up gatherings that bring our Fold Hills experience to you,” according to the statement.
Starting in December, Folded Hills will be in special local spots where visitors can taste new releases and enjoy the same level of hospitality offered at Folded Hills.
It also plans new, personal delivery services.
The Folding Hills Homestead “remains the heart of Folded Hills, a place where you can experience the vineyards, farmstead and ranch. We will continue to welcome you to events and experiences connecting you to the land, the animals and the vines,” according to the message.
It added that the change allows the winery to focus on “organically grown grapes, low-intervention winemaking and genuine connection with the people who make it all meaningful — you.”
