The Montecito Water District is asking community members to contribute donations to it annual Food and Toy Drive.

Non-perishable food can be dropped off until Friday, Dec. 12, and new unwrapped toys until Friday, Dec. 19 at the Water District Office, 583 San Ysidro Road, during business hours 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. (Office closed Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28.)

Most needed non-perishable food items are, :
• Baking essentials (sugar, flour, salt, etc.)
• Instant potatoes and stuffing
• Yams and gravy
• Cooking oil and cranberry sauce
• Broth (vegetable, chicken and beef)
• Pasta, rice, beans (canned or dry)
• Peanut butter
• Canned soup, fruit, vegetables, chicken, or tuna
• Breakfast items (cereal, oats, etc.)

The Water District collects food and toys in collaboration with Unity Shoppe. Established in 1947, Toys for Tots is the U.S. Marine Corps’ premiere community action program, whose mission is to bring the joy of Christmas to America’s less fortunate children.
