What do you do with a defective toaster, a broken bike, or a sweater full of moth holes? Toss it out?

No way, according to Repair Cafe, whose volunteers are organizing a free event, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Community Environmental Council HUB.

A variety of repair volunteers will be available to the community, and tools and materials will be provided.

Attendees can bring along their broken items from home — toasters, lamps, hair dryers, clothes, bikes, toys — anything that is broken is fair game.

“Repair Café aims to show how fun and rewarding repairing things can be,” organizers said. “Repair Café is an effort to share practical skills and problem solve with the local community.”
