Blind Fitness will conduct its second Blind Fitness Golf Clinic, an inclusive community event designed to welcome blind and low-vision participants (and sighted volunteers) into the game of golf through confidence-building instruction, connection, and adaptive recreation.
The clinic will be 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, May 18 at Glen Annie Golf Club, 405 Glen Annie Road, Goleta.
The clinic is presented in partnership with Robert Kotowski and Olde School Golf School, supported by the California Blind, Disabled, and Adaptive Golf Association, and with support from the Santa Barbara City College Physical Education Department.
Kinesiology students from SBCC are being recruited to serve as volunteer guides and assist participants throughout the clinic.
Led by Kotowski, PGA, who is known for his dedication to adaptive athletes and inclusive coaching, the clinic will provide hands-on instruction in the fundamentals of the game, golf-swing, and putting.
Participants of all experience levels, from first-time golfers to returning athletes, are invited to attend.
“Sighted volunteers will also gain meaningful experience learning the principles of guiding blind and low vision golfers while working alongside experienced instructors,” organizers said.
Blind Fitness believes access grows through partnership, and cultivating a strong community of trained sighted guides remains central to its mission, they said.
“We are thrilled to continue growing adaptive golf opportunities in our community,” said Tania Isaac-Dutton, executive director of Blind Fitness.
“With the leadership of Bob Kotowski, the support of Olde School Golf School, and the involvement of Santa Barbara City College students, this clinic reflects what’s possible when education, service, and inclusion come together,” she said.
