A 22-year-old man died and a second person was injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash in northwest Santa Maria on Sunday night.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., personnel from the Santa Maria Fire and Police departments were dispatched to North Blosser Road at Eagleton Avenue.

The driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle that rolled over and landed in the center divider, Sgt. Shane Armstrong said early Monday.

Emergency personnel conducted a search of the area after being told a third person might have been involved in the crash, but did not find another victim.

Both patients suffered major injuries and were taken to Marian Regional Medical Center, Armstrong added.

On Monday morning, police Sgt. Andy Brice confirmed a 22-year-old man had died due to his injuries.

The condition of the second patient wasn’t available.Authorities said they will release the name of the man who died after family members have been notified.

Officers from the Police Department Traffic Unit were investigating the crash.

“Based on the preliminary on-scene investigation, alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision,” Armstrong added.
