Local historian, author, and paranormal investigator Richard Senate will offer an evening of Ghostly Lore and Spirit Detecting, 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 at Avenue Library, 606 N. Ventura Ave., Ventura.
Presented by Avenue Library’s Ghost Hunter’s Club, the talk is free to attend.
With decades of experience researching California’s haunted places, Senate combines historical research with compelling stories of Ventura County’s legendary ghosts, haunted landmarks, and mysterious events, organizers said.
Attendees will hear stories from places they may know, including historic adobes, missions, theaters, and other Ventura area locations rumored to be haunted.
There will be an opportunity to try ghost hunting, and attendees can dress up in Victorian attire.
Senate is the author of numerous books on California history and the paranormal; a historian specializing in Ventura County and early California; and a paranormal investigator with more than four decades of experience.
He has been featured on television, radio, documentaries, and public lectures throughout California.
