Children’s Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County (CRR), in partnership with Elks Recreation, invites the community to the Gobble for Good 5K Color Run, 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Elks Rodeo Grounds in Santa Maria.

Participants can run, walk or waddle through the event benefiting the CRR Discovery Museum, where children learn through play and curiosity.

“Every child deserves opportunities to discover, imagine, and feel connected to the world around them,” said Jacquilyn Banta, COO of Children’s Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County.

“Gobble for Good brings families together to help make those experiences possible while sharing the generosity of Thanksgiving with our neighbors,” she said.

“We are deeply grateful to Elks Recreation and Vons for helping turn a morning of fun into something that reaches beyond the finish line,” Banta said.

In keeping with the event’s Thanksgiving spirit, the fastest male, fastest female, and fastest child will each receive a turkey.

Three local families in need will receive complete Thanksgiving dinners.

The local Vons is donating the prize turkeys and the family meals in keeping with the event’s message: “You win a turkey. A family wins Thanksgiving.”

“There is something special about seeing our community come together for children and families,” said John Glines, Elks recreation liaison for Gobble for Good. “Elks Recreation is proud to partner with CRR on an event where a little friendly competition and a lot of heart can do so much good.

“We invite everyone to come out, make some memories, and help us give three local families another reason to smile this Thanksgiving.”

Proceeds from the event will support the CRR Discovery Museum and its work to create welcoming opportunities for exploration, creativity, and family connection.

“Every registration is an investment in the everyday moments that make childhood meaningful: trying something new, asking a question, making a discovery, and sharing that excitement with someone who cares,” CRR said.

CRR thanks Elks Recreation and Vons.

Individual registration is $15. Family registration is $40 and includes two adults and one or more children under 18. Participants can scan the QR code on the event flyer for details and registration.
