There was some star power on the final day for the American Riviera Classic Pickleball Tournament in Santa Barbara.
Sunday’s men’s doubles action featured musician and local resident Kenny Loggins and actor Fred Savage among the field.
Savage, of “The Wonder Years” fame, won a gold medal in his 3.0 bracket. An avid player who started playing the game during the COVID-19 pandemic, Savage combined with Ryan Anderson of Los Angeles and defeated David Garrison of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Tucker Garrison of Goleta in the title match.
In the top division (5.0), Anthony Litchfield and Bradley Garcia of Orem, Utah won the gold medal against Mark Cardona and Andrew Silverstein of Santa Barbara
“It was another very successful year for the American Riviera Classic Pickleball Tournament,” said tournament director Mike Hoxie. “With more than 280 players from all over the country (Nebraska, South Carolina, and Texas) players look forward to the hospitality of the Santa Barbara pickleball players.”
This was the sixth year of the tournament, which was a benefit for children’s charities.
