The Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara (HACSB), in partnership with its nonprofit affiliate 2nd Story Associates, invites the Santa Barbara community to help furnish 31 newly renovated studio apartments at 3055 De La Vina St.

The adaptive reuse project will provide new long-term homes for 31 chronically homeless or formerly homeless people in Santa Barbara, with a grand opening scheduled for June.
The Adopt-A-Home campaign funds essential items needed to complete these units as homes.
The campaign’s goal is to raise $50,000 to furnish all 31 studio units. This includes $37,000 for room furnishings ($1,300 per unit) and an additional $13,000 for mattresses and frames from local vendor, Beds4U.
“This campaign provides a unique opportunity for our community to directly contribute to the well-being of our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Rob Fredericks, HACSB executive director/CEO.
“By helping us furnish these studios, our supporters are doing more than donating. They are helping us turn this former hotel into a true home for those who have been without one for far too long.” Fredericks said.
Community members can support in a few ways:
• Adopt-A-Home Wishlists: Purchase items to donate through Amazon Wishlists for individual studios, the community room, or outdoor communal areas.
• Donations: Contribute to the general campaign fund to help HACSB reach its $50,000 goal.
The former 32-unit motel incorporates Spanish Colonial–inspired architecture, landscaped outdoor spaces, and a new community room for resident gatherings and supportive services.
Residents will receive rental assistance through the Section 8 program, ensuring they pay no more than 30 percent of their income toward rent.
Located within walking distance of transit lines, grocery stores, parks, and pharmacies, the site offers ideal access to essential local services.
