As a Valentine’s season special, Woods Humane Society will host a Bachelor Pet adoption, Feb. 12-16, reducing adoption fees for adult dogs and cats to $14 (plus license fees for adult dogs).

The event lowers pet adoption fees from the shelter’s typical range of $65 for senior cats to $150 for adult dogs.
Woods Humane Society has two locations, 875 Oklahoma Ave., San Luis Obispo; and 2300 Ramona Road, Atascadero.
“Inspired by popular reality dating shows, we hope that our Bachelor Pet event and reduced adoption fees will help draw attention to the many dog and cat ‘contestants’ who are waiting at Woods to find the love of their life,” said Woods CEO Emily L’Heureux.
“Valentine’s Day is also a great time to celebrate the unconditional love that pets provide. Our dogs and cats are eager to bring joy and companionship to a special person, and the goal of this event is to help with that matchmaking process.” she said.
The adoption promotion reduces barriers to adoption and also encourages the public to consider opening their hearts to animals in need, L’Heureux said.
“As dogs and cats at Woods find loving homes, their kennels will become available to help more animals in need of shelter, including the anticipated influx of puppies and kittens this spring,” she said.
All adoptable animals have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, licensed, and treated for parasites, according to Woods Humane. Adoptions also include a voluntary 30 days of pet insurance and a free wellness exam at a local vet clinic.
Woods Humane Society is open daily, noon-5 p.m., with adoption hours noon-4 p.m.
