An e-bike rider was seriously injured on Wednesday in a crash on the city’s Westside, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.

The incident occurred at about 10:35 a.m. on Carrillo Street at the Chino Street intersection, said Lt. Ryan DeJohn.

The woman, who was eastbound on Carrillo, lost control of her e-bike and fell to the roadway, suffering a serious head injury, DeJohn said.

City firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and immediately began providing medical care to the woman.

DeJohn added that she was not wearing a helmet, and was transported by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Her name and details on her condition were not available.

The crash was under investigation by the Police Department.
