AGIA Affinity Services held its annual fundraising campaign for the United Way of Santa Barbara County (UWSBC) and raised $116,286, an all-time high of contributions for the Carpinteria-based company.
The fundraiser, called Pledge-a-Palooza: Rockin’ & Rollin’ for the United Way, kicked off Oct.14 with week-long festivities encouraging associates to donate and raise funds for UWSBC.
The donation will go to important programs that help Santa Barbara County’s youth improve their academic and social skills each year, as well as preparing them for higher education. UWSBC offers six signature programs, including Fun in the Sun, a six-week summer learning program that directly addresses summer learning loss through hands-on, project-based lessons.
Mei-Ling Fry, assistant vice president of Human Resources at AGIA Affinity, attributes the success of this campaign to the dedication and enthusiasm her committee has for the United Way’s mission and the giving spirit of AGIA’s culture.
“The United Way has always been close to AGIA’s heart and we want to continue promoting what we’re passionate about,” Fry said. “We value the importance of giving back to our community and that’s what we love most about working with the United Way.”
Giving back to the community at large has always been a value of AGIA’s culture. “At AGIA, we strive to contribute to the well-being of our employees, our community, and our clients,” said Julie Capritto, COO at AGIA. “It’s important for us to make a difference in the lives of others and be a source for improving the quality of life.
“We are humbled and deeply grateful for the continued bigheartedness of our associates and company.”
UWSBC has provided comprehensive programming for nearly 25,000 Santa Barbara County residents annually. By collaborating with local volunteers, nonprofit and public sector agencies, and community leaders, UWSBC brings together Santa Barbara County’s best resources to empower local children, families and seniors.
