Cold Spring School District in Montecito will serve as the hub for artificial intelligence (AI) innovation in TK–12 plus education as it hosts the inaugural ACSA AI Summit July 10–11 in partnership with the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).
The event will bring together some 100 participants, including superintendents, principals, teachers, technology experts, industry pioneers, and legislative advocates to explore the future of AI in public education.
The ACSA AI Summit aims to shape a statewide vision for AI literacy, personalized learning, and educational equity.
Notably, California State Sen. Josh Newman will attend to join discussions on the role of policy and funding in scaling equitable AI implementation for all students.
“This is more than just a conference, this is a movement to ensure equity in education,” said Amy Alzina, Cold Spring School District superintendent and chair of the ACSA AI Task Force.
“Together with our AI Task Force, we are committed to ensuring every child in California has access to the knowledge, tools, and opportunity to thrive in an AI-powered world,” Alzina said.
Summit Highlights Include:
• A presentation, “From Consumers to Creators,” led by Alzina, showcasing how Cold Spring educators and partners are redefining classroom instruction using AI.
• Speakers include Jason Hovey and Chelsea Hatchard from Khan Academy, innovation teacher Ryan Francisco, second-grade teacher Sarah Shaupeter; fourth-grade teacher Elizabeth Gomez, and music and drama teacher Sarah DiSalvo.
They will demonstrate how adaptive AI platforms and creative tools like Khanmigo, Adobe Express, and Suno AI are being used to personalize student learning and ignite creativity.
• Keynote address from Christian Jackson, CEO of EDAPT School’s AI and national voice in AI and education.
• Fireside chat on AI policy and funding, featuring Edgar Zazueta, executive director, ACSA; Yuri Calderon, executive director, SSDA; and Kevin Gordon, president, Capitol Advisors.
• Breakout sessions on strategic AI planning, creative AI applications, and real-world use cases in schools, led by members of the ACSA AI Task Force and local educators.
• Student-designed puzzle activity, highlighting community, collaboration, and joy in AI-powered learning.
• All attendees will receive a signed copy of “AI First: The Playbook for Future-Proof Business and Brand” by Adam Brotman and Andy Sack, courtesy of FranklinCovey Education.
The ACSA AI Summit is part of ACSA’s broader mission to ensure all California TK–12 plus students and educators become AI literate, empowered to use AI ethically, creatively and effectively.
