Aidan Speake delivered a two-out, two-run pinch-hit single in the fifth inning that sparked the San Marcos baseball team to an 8-2 win over Cabrillo in a Channel League baseball game at Joe Mueller Field on Monday.

Speake’s single to left field scored Joaquin Sandoval and Thomas Kinzler. The Royals broke the game open in the sixth with five runs.

Alex Moosebrugger went 2-for-2 with a RBI and Joaquin Sandoval was 2-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Aiden Johnson started on the mound for the Royals and pitched five innings, allowing two hits and one walk and striking out two. Nicky Fell pitched the seventh and struck out two.

San Marcos is 1-0-1 in league play and hosts Lompoc on Friday.
