The wind-driven Alisal Fire burning on the Gaviota Coast had blackened 15,500 acres as of Wednesday and flames stretched from the ridgeline of the Santa Ynez Mountains all the way to the ocean. 

Smoke from the blaze could be seen from all over the region and the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District issued an air quality watch this week
