If you’ve ever wanted to dress up in in your favorite zombie costume and dance to the haunting sounds of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” World Dance for Humanity invites community members to learn the dance in preparation for the Thrill the World event, Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens.

World Dace has hosted Santa Barbara’s Thriller since 2010, joining thousands of dancing zombies around the world who rise from the ground at the same moment in time, to create a spooktacular community experience on the last Saturday before Halloween.
Practices for Thriller start Saturday, Sept. 21. No dance experience is needed, and all ages are welcome. Practices are at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Oak Park and 9:45 a.m. Saturdays on the beachfront at Chase Palm Park.
The goal is to register 100 zombies to “Get Scary for Charity.” Dancers can also participate in flash-mobs all over town for the two weeks leading up to the Thrill the World event.
Thriller is the largest fundraising event for World Dance. Funds raised from event sponsors and dancer donations go to the World Dance Rwanda Education Fund supporting 297 students attending elementary, high school and college, and to the Westside Boys and Girls Club in Santa Barbara.
World Dance offers low-cost classes six days a week and provides humanitarian aid year-round, working with vulnerable communities in Rwanda, and bringing emergency aid to their partners in Ukraine.
