A utility-terrain vehicle overturned at the wind farm southwest of Lompoc Wednesday afternoon, sending three people to local hospitals.
At approximately 2 p.m., emergency personnel from the Lompoc Fire Department, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and American Medical Response were dispatched to the incident near San Miguelito and Sudden roads, according to emergency dispatch reports.
The vehicle landed on the adult male driver, who had major injuries due to the crash, county fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
Coworkers used a water tender and chain to lift the vehicle off the patient, Safechuck added.
A Calstar medical helicopter landed at the Strauss Wind Energy Project site after scouting out a safe location away from the wind turbine generators.
The vehicle driver was transported by Calstar to Marian Regional Medical Center. Two others went the hospital by private vehicle, according to emergency dispatch reports.
