Denise Stribling
Denise Stribling

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our daughter Denise Stribling, on Sept. 24, 2026. Born on Aug. 7, 1979 at Goleta Valley Hospital, Denise was the third child of Jim and Rita Stribling.

She grew up in Carpinteria, where she attended local schools. Denise and her family moved to Solvang at the end of her junior year of high school, and she graduated from Santa Ynez Valley Union High School in 1998.

After high school, Denise worked on local horse ranches and became a veterinary technician.

After the birth of her son in 2007, she went back to school, became a preschool teacher, and worked at Santa Ynez Presbyterian Preschool.

She turned her love of children and animals into a career as a nanny and pet and house sitter.

Denise had a golden heart and was always rooting for the underdog and helping those in need. She was loving, kind, generous to a fault, and a wonderful true friend. She put the needs of others before herself.

She was a huge Rams fan; she loved going to their games and tailgating. She enjoyed dining out, camping, and traveling, especially going on several cruises with her son.

Denise felt her best and biggest accomplishment was her son Malaki. She was so proud of him and the young man he has become.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Aleck and Louise Stribling, Rhoma Greer, Jack Greer, and Eddie Rodgers.

Denise is survived by her son Malaki Stribling; parents Jim and Rita Stribling; brothers Jamie Stribling and Braden (Ashley) Stribling; sister Rochelle (Bryant) Hicks; nieces Mackenzie Hicks and Danaca Stribling; and nephews Tristan Hicks, JD Stribling, Greyson Stribling, and Hudson Stribling.

In accordance with Denise’s wishes, her ashes will be scattered at sea during a private sailing off the Santa Barbara coast on Oct. 16, 2026.

Denise loved flowers and plants. Coming from a flower-growing family, we think it only fitting that you take flowers or a plant to someone you love.

We would like to thank the nurses and staff at the VNA Hospice for their kindness, compassion and comfort during this difficult time.

Denise will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Arrangements entrusted to Loper Funeral Chapel.
