Andy Guyader, who served as an assistant football coach at Cal Poly and Army, has been named the head varsity football coach at Cabrillo High.
The hiring of Guyader, who also will teach math, was approved by the Lompoc Unified School District on Tuesday night.
Guyader takes over a program that has gone 0-10 the last two seasons and has one win in the last three years.
“We are excited and hopeful that Andy can build a winning program on and off the field,” said Superintendent Trevor McDonald.
Guyader served as a lecturer in Engineering at Cal Poly before taking the job at Cabrillo. He has a PhD in Civil Engineering from Caltech.
Guyader coached at Cal Poly from 2004-08 and then at Army from 2009-2014.
