Anthony S. Hernandez was born on May 5, 1949 in Lovell, Wyoming, to Alfred and Angela Hernandez. He was the third eldest child of five siblings, Phyllis, Alfred, Joe, Angie and Richard. Tony, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, joined the Lord on Feb. 1, 2021.

Tony attended schools in Santa Barbara and worked for the Santa Barbara Unified School District for 40 years. He retired on June 6, 2009. After graduating from high school, he was drafted and proudly served his county in the Army for 1st Field Force tour in Vietnam.

Tony was full of unconditional love for his family and was loving, kind, funny, dependable, trustworthy and courageous. We will miss his words of encouragement, wisdom and his sense of humor. His passion was barbecuing at family gatherings, camping with friends and family, and pitching horseshoes.

Tony was loving husband to his wife Diana of 47 years, and proud father to four children, Cynthia Hernandez, Tony Jr. (Angela) Hernandez, James (Brooke) Sena, and Michael (Sunny) Ramirez; and best grandfather to eight grandchildren Andrew, Isaiah, Francisco Jr., Marisa, Jaxon, Shyanne, Olivia, Blake and Sienna.

Tony will be laid to rest on Friday Feb. 19, with mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 1 p.m.; immediately following graveside at Calvary Cemetery.
