The Music Academy of the West’s Arancia Quartet will perform Gabriella Smith’s “Carrot Revolution,” 3 p.m. Saturday, July 20 in Santa Barbara Museum of Art’s McCormick Gallery, 1130 State St.
The Arancia Quartet is made up of 2024 String Quartet Seminar fellows Miyabi Henriksen, violin; Steven Song, violin; Sheng-Chieh Jason Lan, viola; and Shijie Ma, cello.
Originally commissioned by an art museum, “Carrot Revolution” is a patchwork of Smith’s contrasting influences, unexpected juxtapositions, and intersecting planes of sound, celebrating the spirit of fresh observation.
The concert is free to attend with museum admission.
