Some of the best high school baseball talent on the Central Coast will be playing together this fall for the Coastal Cubs Elite Scout Team.
The roster includes local players like pitchers Chase Hoover and Cole Schoenwetter of San Marcos, both of whom have made college commitments to TCU and UCSB, respectively. Hoover is a senior and Schoenwetter and junior.
Other standout preps are seniors Emmett Speake, Aidan Mandell, Joaquin Sandoval and Nicky Fell of San Marcos; Casey Cloud and Victor Heredia (CSUN commit) of Santa Ynez; Jackson Holland of Santa Barbara.
“There are several 2021 players that have been in the program for a couple of years now that will be receiving opportunities to play at the next level,” said Coastal Cubs director Tom Myers, an area scout supervisor for the Chicago Cubs. The group as a whole should garner plenty of attention. Our competition is strong and will provide a good development opportunity for the local kids.”
The team has a five-game schedule through the month of October.
In addition, the Coastal Cubs will be holding a14-under development program in the fall. The group practices once and week and plays on Saturdays at Goleta Valley Junior High.
