Two teenage men were robbed and assaulted in Isla Vista Tuesday night by three to four male suspects, according to the UC Santa Barbara Police Department.
UCPD notified the campus community that they received a report of an armed robbery at approximately 6:44 p.m. Tuesday at Tierra De Fortuna Park at 6892 Fortuna Road.
The two teenage male victims were reportedly approached by three to four male suspects that demanded their personal property.
One suspect lifted his sweatshirt to reveal a black handgun tucked in his waistband and another suspect brandished a knife and told the victims that he would “kill them,” UCPD said.
When the victims attempted to flee, they were physically assaulted and the suspects stole their property.
Afterwards, the victims were able to flee the scene to Home Depot at 6975 Marketplace Dr. where they contacted police, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies checked the area for the suspects, but they were not located. The victims did not request medical attention at the scene, Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Authorities did not provide details about what was stolen.
The suspects were wearing masks, and their ages are unknown. They were wearing hooded sweatshirts and black Dickies-style pants, police said.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 805.683.2724, or report crime information anonymously here.
