An Arroyo Grande man has been identified as the person found dead in the Waller Park duck pond in Santa Maria on Sunday morning.

The body of Shane Sejera, 60, was recovered from the pond at the park in southern Santa Maria, said Raquel Zick, public information officer.

The sheriff’s Dive Team was called to the park at 9:40 a.m. that day, Zick added.

“The death does not appear to be suspicious,” she added.

Authorities did not release the cause of death for Sejera on Wednesday, saying toxicology tests were still pending.

Although it’s located in Santa Maria, the 154-acre Waller Park at 3107 Orcutt Road is managed by the Santa Barbara County Parks Department, and has ponds popular with ducks and geese.
