Two people were killed Tuesday night in a multi-vehicle collision on Cathedral Oaks Road in Goleta, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said the crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on the 5500 block of Cathedral Oaks, between Kellogg Avenue and Cambridge Drive.

Four vehicles were involved in the collision, Bertucelli said, adding that heavy extrication was required to remove the victims from the wreckage.

The names of those killed were not released pending notification of relatives.

Another person sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by an AMR ambulance, Bertucelli said.

Cathedral Oaks Road was shut down after the crash, and was expected to remain shut down for several hours.

County Animal Services was called in to take a dog that was in one of the vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A fire hydrant was damaged in the crash.

The crash remained under investigation by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
