The Lompoc Recreation Division in May will offer training for those interested in becoming American Red Cross-certified lifeguards.
Whether participants are looking for a summer job, or a career as a professional lifeguard, the Lompoc Aquatic Center lifeguard program provides classroom activities, online e-learning, and hands-on practice. The course is open to those age 15 and older.
The comprehensive and intensive lifeguard training course includes accident prevention, lifeguarding techniques, emergency systems, water-rescue skills, Basic Life Support (CPR/AED) training, and first aid.
Training will take place at the Lompoc Aquatic Center, 207 West College Ave. A pre-course will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, May 21. Instruction times are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, May 22-23, and June 5-6.
Pre-registration is required, and can be done by calling the Lompoc Recreation Division, 805-875-8100, or registration online at https://apm.activecommunities.com/lompocrecreation. Deadline to register is Monday, May 17.
Since the class is presented in a blended learning format, a valid email address is required at registration. Participants will receive an email with information on how to access the online component upon registration.
