Catalyst for Cats, Inc. has announced its merger into Animal Shelter Assistance Program (ASAP). The combined organization will continue to operate under the ASAP Cats name.

The nonprofit ASAP Cats said the move will provide it with a wealth of knowledge and create an industry leader in animal welfare.
Catalyst was founded in 1990 by feline advocate Randi Fairbrother, who sought a way to provide safe spay/neuter to unsocialized outdoor cats, as well as programs to relocate them as mousers.
“We’re really excited to maintain Randi’s legacy and continue the great impact of these two organizations,” said Jessica Wiebe, executive director of ASAP Cats.
“Catalyst started just a year after ASAP Cats’ founding in 1989, and both organizations have shared the same longtime goals of improving the lives of local cats while decreasing the overpopulation of unaltered outdoor cats,” she said.
“Offering several benefits to the cats of Santa Barbara County, including a Trap-Neuter-Return program and multiple Spay-A-Thon events, Catalyst’s mission will carry on while merged with ASAP,” she said.
ASAP Cats will continue to be led by Wiebe, a veteran in the animal welfare world with some 20 years of experience, 11 of them at Santa Barbara County Animal Services.
ASAP Cats is dedicated to saving the lives of cats in Santa Barbara County by providing shelter, veterinary care, behavioral support, adoption and foster services, education, and community outreach.
Catalyst for Cats, Inc. focuses on helping stray and feral cats. Its primary goal is to prevent the suffering of cats, and its key strategy is the reduction and control of feral cat populations within Santa Barbara County through its Trap-Neuter-Return and feeding programs.
