To showcase our support as a sponsor of Basil’s Big Bash, Noozhawk spoke with Tanner Tait, Marketing & Development Coordinator for ASAP Cats to learn more about their upcoming event.
Question: What is the name & date of your event?
Answer: Basil’s BIG Bash will be taking place on June 9th, 2023 at 5:30pm at The Carousal House.
Q: What is the mission, goal, and/or theme of this occasion?
The ASAP Cats mission seeks to save and serve the cats of Santa Barbara County, because we believe that cats are part of the family. Every year, Basil’s Big Bash raises more funds to support our mission than any other event we hold, and we owe it all to our amazing ASAP Cats community of cat lovers — where cats are family, too!
Q: Have you held this event before?
A: Basil’s Big Bash started in 2014, and every year we aim to make it bigger and bigger!
Q: Tell us some more details about your celebration?
A: Fellow cat lovers and feline enthusiasts gather together to celebrate a night of dancing, dinner, and saving cats. In addition, the Bash hosts a Silent and Live Auction, guest speakers, and an opportunity to take a photo with ASAP Cats’ very own Basil!
Q: How do people get involved with your event? (volunteer, attend, etc.) – If your event includes ticket sales, please note the price and include a link to purchase tickets.
A: While tickets are officially sold out for this year’s Bash (they go quick!), there are other ways you can support ASAP Cats and the Bash.
One of our big-ticket Live Auction items is the Instant Wine Cellar, where one lucky recipient will receive dozens of bottles of reds and whites – perfect for jumpstarting a wine cellar! Q: Is this a fundraising affair? If so, how will the funds raised help your organization?
A: This annual event is our largest fundraiser, raising over 20% of our operating costs. These costs directly impact the medical care of our cats, help keep cats with their families, and support both our internal and external programs dedicated to serving the cats of Santa Barbara County.
Q: Who is sponsoring your event, and why is their support important?
A: We have several sponsors throughout the broader cat-loving community, both in and out of state, consisting of top donors, generous local businesses, and organizations we’ve partnered with to further pursue the ASAP Cats mission. Their support allows us to hold the Bash every year, and subsequently supports us in saving the cats in our community.
Q: Do you work with an Event Planner? If not, who are the key people who make it all happen?
A: In addition to our marvelous Event Planner, Elly Iverson of eji experiences, the key people on our team consist of ASAP Cats volunteers, staff, and Board, as well as the broader ASAP Cats community.
Q: Does your organization have any other upcoming events this year?
A: Every month we hold an adoption event and yard sale at our shelter (occasionally offsite). Please check our social media outlets and website for more information.
We are also increasing our outreach efforts and will be offering additional low-cost veterinary services to the community and their cats very soon, including free microchip clinics. Stay tuned for more!
A: We always hold a post-Bash thank you event for our team of superstar volunteers, as well as a special section in our newsletter to highlight the heroes of our Bash!
