With the warm summer weather here, ASAP Cats is brimming with cats and kittens in need of adoption.
Relying on the community’s support to find foster and forever homes for the felines, ASAP will be hosting various adoption events throughout the season, the next one set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 30. But potential cat adopters do not need to wait until then.
“We rely on our community to come serve as volunteers at the shelter and, perhaps most importantly, to provide loving homes for all of our ASAP cats,” said Becky Morrill, shelter operations supervisor.
With dozens of cats and kittens recently surrendered to the shelter, finding homes for them is important for the ASAP team. Whether these cats get the chance to try out life beyond the shelter walls in a foster home or find their perfect match and join a new family, giving them a home is an essential component of the ASAP mission.
“A home is the best gift you can give a cat,” Morrill said.
In addition to a getting new furry family member, adopters receive food and a wand toy, microchipping, vaccination, and spaying/neutering from ASAP. ASAP also provides resources such as veterinary care in the first two weeks after adoption, and lifelong behavioral support to ensure the cat’s lifestyle and happiness are maintained.
ASAP is also looking to add more volunteers to its shelter staff. ASAP offers training, including cleaning procedures, cat behavior and handling, and ASAP policies, and gives volunteers a chance to work directly with felines in need, garnering affection from the cats and kittens whose lives they have helped.
