Santa Barbara High blitzed St. Joseph 25-2 in the opening quarter on Saturday and went on to record a 57-13 girls basketball win at the Ventura Tournament.
Athena Saragoza continued her hot shooting, scoring 34 points one day after putting up 32 against Buena. The junior guard shot 63.6% (14-22), including 4-7 on 3’s, and recorded nine of her team’s 19 steals.
Caia Trimble added 11 points, four steals and three assists for SBHS, which led 42-7 at halftime. The Dons held the Knights to five points or less in every quarter and only allowed two points in the fourth.
Jaeda Spence led the Dons’ rebounders with eight. Santa Barbara shot 49% for the game.
