Dos Pueblos midfielder Audrey Kling put a shot into the low post from a corner kick by Trisha Lo with 12 minutes left to give the Chargers a 1-0 Channel League win over host Santa Barbara Monday night.
The hard-fought win was Dos Pueblos’ third in a row.
Charger goalkeeper Elena Andrews got another clean sheet in the win, including a great save on a Santa Barbara free kick from 25 yards out that could have tied the game.
“The team was relentless tonight, chasing down through balls, battling 1-v-1’s in the midfield and taking chances in the attacking 3rd,” Charger coach Marco Medina said. “It was another team effort.”
“Santa Barbara was very well organized and played with intention. It was a challenge to break them down tonight. Kudos to their back line and GK.”
The Chargers improve to 4-5-4 in league play and 6-7-4 overall.
They host Ventura at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Scott O’Leary Stadium for Senior Night.
